I'm installing an old printer HP DeskJet ck on Windows 10 bit , and HP has not produced a driver to support this printer with this operating system, so obviously it is not automatically recognized by my operating system.
Typically, here's how I would resolve this problem: 1 Open Control Panel 2 click on "Devices and Printers" 3 click on "Add a printer" 4 In the next dialog box, Windows will attempt to find my printer. After it fails, I click on "The printer that I want isn't listed.
After a few minutes, more printers are added to the list. My printer is still not on this list, BUT some very similar printers are on the list. I choose one of the similar printers and everything works perfectly. Here's the problem I've been having recently: In step 8, Windows Update is failing to update the printer list.
It says "Try again later. I've searched online and tried several methods to "reset" Windows Update, but I keep getting the same result "try again later". On those other PCs, I am able to complete all of the above 8 steps.
