When the blower control is set to any position other than off, it selects the amount of air delivered to the passenger compartment. There are four blower speeds. The fan speed increases as you move the control clockwise. Dual Zone Temperature Control — If Equipped With the Dual Zone Temperature Control System, each front seat occupant can independently control the tem- perature of air coming from the outlets on their side of NOTE: To improve your selection choices, the system allows you to operate at intermediate positions between the major modes.
These intermediate positions are iden- tified by the small dots. Each Bi-Level Mode of these outlets can be individually adjusted to direct the flow of air. Moving the air vane knob on the center outlets down, will close off the air flow from the center outlets. A slight amount of air is also directed through the side window demister outlets. NOTE: In many temperature lever positions, the bi- level mode is designed to provide cooler air out of the panel outlets and warmer air from the floor outlets.
This mode works best in cold or snowy conditions. It allows you to stay comfortable while keep- ing the windshield clear. This is done to assist in drying the air and it will help in keeping the windows from fogging.
Page recirculation mode to rapidly cool the inside of the vehicle. The recirculation mode can also be used to temporarily block out outside odors, smoke, and dust. Page Rear Blower Control The primary control for the rear blower is on the front climate control unit located on the instrument panel. Interior air enters the Manual Rear Zone Climate Control system through an intake grille located in the passenger side trim panel behind the third seat.
The heater outlets are located in the passenger side trim panel just behind the sliding door. Page Automatic Temperature Control - If Equipped The rear temperature knob and the rear blower speed can be adjusted as desired by the second seat occupants.
This is accom- plished by using two infrared sensors, located in the center of the instrument panel. Once the desired temperature is displayed, the system will achieve and maintain that comfort level automatically. When the system is set up for your comfort level, it is not necessary to change the settings. Each of these outlets can be individually adjusted to direct the flow of air. NOTE: In many temperature positions, the bi-level mode is designed to provide cooler air out of the panel outlets and warmer air from the floor outlets.
A slight amount of air is directed through the defrost and side window demister outlets. Mix Mode Mix Outlets Air comes from the floor, defrost and side window demist outlets. Use this setting when necessary to defrost your windshield and side windows. The recirculation mode should only be used temporarily.
The recirculation symbol will illuminate in the display when this button is selected. Push the button a second time to turn off the recirculation icon in the display and allow outside air into the vehicle.
Auto Mode The rear system automatically maintains the correct mode and comfort level desired by the rear seat occu- pants. Refer to section 7, Maintenance Procedures, of this manual for proper coolant selection. Winter Operation To insure the best possible heater and defroster perfor- mance, make sure the engine cooling system is function- ing properly and the proper amount, type, and concen- tration of coolant is used.
Press and hold the button for as long as spray is desired. Intermittent Rear Wiper Operation — Page If your vehicle is equipped with Infrared Three-Zone Automatic Temperature Control the rear defroster sym- bol will show in the display screen when the rear window defroster is on.
To avoid damaging the electrical conductors of the rear window defroster, do not use scrapers, sharp instruments, or abrasive window cleaners on the interior surface of the window. Accidents can be caused by inadvertently moving the gear selection lever or by pressing the accelerator pedal.
Depress the brake pedal before shifting into any driving gear. Do not depress the accelerator. Push the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor and hold it there while cranking the engine.
This should clear any excess fuel in case the engine is flooded. Do not attempt to push or tow your vehicle to get it started. Vehicles equipped with an automatic trans- mission cannot be started this way. Unburned fuel could enter the catalytic converter and once the engine has started, ignite and damage the converter and vehicle. Connect the cord to a standard volt AC electrical outlet with a grounded, three-wire extension cord.
The engine block heater cord is routed under the hood on the driver side of the vehicle. If your foot is not firmly on the brake pedal, the vehicle could accelerate quickly forward or in re- verse. Page Reset Mode - Electronic Transmission The transmission is monitored electronically for abnor- mal conditions. If a condition is detected that could cause damage, the transmission automatically shifts into sec- ond gear.
The transmission remains in second gear despite the forward gear selected. Never use Park position on an automatic transmis- sion as a substitute for the parking brake. Always apply parking brake fully when parked to guard against vehicle movement and possible injury or damage. When parking on a hill you should apply the parking brake before placing the gear shift lever in PARK, otherwise the load on the transmission locking mechanism may make it difficult to move the selector out of PARK.
Page Brake System When parking on a hill, turn the front wheels toward the curb on a downhill grade and away from the curb on an uphill grade. The parking brake should always be applied whenever the driver is not in the vehicle.
These noises are the system performing its self check cycle to ensure that the ABS system is working properly. If wheel spin is detected, brake pressure is applied to the slipping wheel s and engine power is reduced to provide enhanced acceleration and stability. Continued operation with reduced power steering assist could pose a safety risk to yourself and others.
Service should be obtained as soon as possible. Prolonged operation of the steering system at the end of the steering wheel travel will increase the steering fluid temperature and it should be avoided when possible.
Page Traction Traction When driving on wet or slushy roads, it is possible for a wedge of water to build up between the tire and road surface. This is known as hydroplaning and may cause partial or complete loss of vehicle control and stopping ability.
Tires designed to this standard have the tire size molded into the sidewall beginning with the section width. The letter P is absent from this tire size designation.
Load Identification Department of Transportation tire safety standards, and is approved for highway use. Page This placard tells you important information about the: 1 number of people that can be carried in the vehicle 2 the total weight your vehicle can carry 3 the tire size designed for your vehicle 4 the cold tire inflation pressures for the front, rear, and spare tires.
The resulting figure equals the available amount of cargo and luggage load capacity. Overloading of your tires is dangerous. Overloading can cause tire failure, affect vehicle handling, and increase your stopping distance. Use tires of the recommended load capacity for your vehicle. Never overload them. Page Tire Inflation Pressures 2. Economy— Improper inflation pressures can cause uneven wear patterns to develop across the tire tread. It is very easy to use and support is always free.
